This past week, we witnessed what a difference a group of people can make with love and support. Tanner, a bully breed dog, was turned over to Angel Capone Pitbull Rescue on the morning of March 3, 2013. The owner was no longer able to care for him. He was extremely weak, emancipated dehydrated and very sick when he first arrived to Angel Capone. When you would go to pet Tanner, the skin on his neck started to peel off. He was quickly transported to VCA Shoreline Veterinary Emergency Hospital to be stabilized.
The supporters of Angel Capone quickly came to help Tanner and raised enough money for the necessary medical care. Tanner’s pulse and blood work were shown to be too weak to go into surgery. Things started to look up as he gained 6 pounds in nearly five days! He is still too weak for surgery, but Tanner is quickly becoming stronger with the love and support of his fans. His body is still not able to make protein and his bone marrow is not making red blood cells, but the doctors are doing the best they can to figure out what exactly is wrong. We are still anxiously waiting to hear updates on how Tanner is doing, but all we can do now is spread the word and love on him the best we can.
We love you Tanner! Hang in there! To follow updates, connect with Angel Capone Pitbull Rescue’s facebook page.
On another puppy note, Petrie was adopted yesterday and is now settling into his new forever home with his new family!
Don’t forget to attend Angel Capone Pitbull Rescue’s Orange Ale House event on Sunday, March 24th from 1-8 PM to help them raise money for bully breeds in need.
